Starting up the 2025 Metro season, the Buzzards rocked the Clam Chowder Boys at Cricket Field in Forest Park to run out 12.8 (80) to 6.3 (39) victors on a cool Saturday morning fixture.

It was a slow start from the first siren with both teams knocking off the rust from a long off season and short Thunderball™ stint. But it was the Buzzards that turned on the burners and overcooked the Chowder.

For the first time this year, players got a chance to show improvement from last season as well as debuts for new faces. Brendan Burke, Eli Benner, Shaun Scott all laced up for the first time and show great promise for the future. 

The return of DeÁndra Morgan Jr. at ruck saw the Buzzard take control of the middle of the field. Gracefully guiding the ball down into the hands of Troy Kirk and Dave Zitko that helped the duo get going and start pulling away from the Clam Chowder Boys. This allowed for a 14 point lead at the half.

After regrouping as a whole club and a shakeup of the positions, Stephen Zenishek and Rhiannon Duryea of the Buzzards left the comfort of the forward half and swapped to defensive roles. They would only concede one minor score in the third term. The Buzzards' ability to move the ball around traffic to find a teammate saw their lead grow to 40 points going into the final term.
