Stephen Zenishek got his first taste of Aussie Rules during his collegiate rugby days as an off-day conditioning game. Never looking into the sport further, he continued down the path of rugby thinking he would never grow tired of breakaways and trys. After several years of hard hits and scrum work, Stephen looked for different athletic outlets. Enter the Oklahoma Buffaloes. Quickly taken under the wing of Buffaloes' cornerstone players, Dustin Brasel and Caleb West, he was brought up to speed in the sport of Australian Football. Zenishek played a key part of the Buffaloes back line during the 2018 and 2019 season.
The 2020 season poised itself to be a breakout year for Stephen and the Buffaloes, but the world had other plans. The COVID Pandemic halted the USAFL season and players everywhere looked to keep up with sport but with restrictions, games were not a possibility for the foreseeable future. He stayed diligent and worked on his kicking accuracy for the lockout year and to advance his career, relocated to St. Louis in 2021. OLD BUFFALOES NEVER DIE.
With the help of Zenishek and others, St. Louis A FC was able to pull out of hiatus and compete as a club for the first time in 10 years. His height and classy right foot allowed him to find a home as Full Forward in the new Blues lineup. While not official, he served as Captain for away games during the 2021-2023 seasons.
