After a long career of playing soccer, Joel "Frosty" Friesen decided to find another way to enjoy injuring himself. The stars aligned to get Frosty into footy, and by that we mean it was deep in the pandemic and AFL was the only live sport on TV. Shortly afterwards he joined STLAFC in 2021. Frosty had a short but passionate relationship with ruck that ended after one game in an obliterated ankle and months of rehab. He now leaves rucking for the big boys and plays midfield, half-back, and half-forward. After a very short first season he returned in 2022 and completed a full season with STLAFC that included playing at Regionals, winning team BOG several weekends, being a part of the undefeated metro team Amsterdam Yankees (Little Lakes are trash), and not going to Nationals the year they won the Div IV flag because he was pursuing his education, retrospectively a dumb decision.
2023 saw Frosty build on the previous year. He played in 12 games that year including Regionals in Kansas City as well as playing with the Revo Reserves at the 49th Parallel Cup in Racine. Despite tearing his hamstring in a game against Chicago and then aiding the recovery process by limping all over downtown that night, he recovered and played at Nationals in Florida. Teammates might describe Frosty as hardworking, quick, and good at disrupting attacks and developing play. Teammates have actually described him as having a bad mustache and being easy to nutmeg. Opponents have said he has a nice mustache.
